Hi, I'm Manuel. I'm a software engineer, a solo founder, and most importantly a dad of three. Our Family Album exists because of them. This is the story.

It started with the twins

A few years ago my wife Margo was pregnant for the first time. Hint: she was pregnant with twins. I had always been a photography enthusiast, but suddenly it wasn't about photography anymore. I was going to be a father, I knew I would be taking thousands of pictures, and my parents live in another country. I wanted them to see their first grandchildren grow up, every day, not once a year.

I looked for an app that could put our photos on my parents' old iPad in their living room, automatically, without anyone having to touch anything. I couldn't find one. So, being a software engineer, I decided to build it myself. The twins arrived before the app was as complete as I wanted, so I cut features, skipped the marketing, and shipped it anyway. Probably one of the worst App Store launches you could find. But my parents had their grandchildren on their iPad the week they were born, and that was the whole point. That app became Digital Photo Frame App.

The family grew

A couple of years later, that one shared photo stream had more than 2,000 pictures in it. A lot of very good memories, and some hard ones too: our boy was born with a diaphragmatic hernia and spent his first weeks in the hospital. He is doing great now. Looking back at those photos is exactly why all of this matters.

Then our third arrived, and the photos multiplied. And I kept running into the same problem every young family knows: the photos live in group chats. Ten different threads, compressed images, grandparents scrolling past jokes to find the pictures, and no single place that holds the whole story of a childhood.

Why Our Family Album

I didn't want to post my children to the whole internet, and I didn't want their childhood scattered across chats. I wanted one calm, private place: the family posts a moment once, everyone we love sees it, comments on it, and it stays there, safe, in order, forever. Nothing like that felt right, so I built it. Again.

Our Family Album is the app I wish we'd had the day the twins were born: private by default, invite only, no ads, no strangers, no noise. Just your family, growing up together.
